Services and Pricing

When I install grab bars or handrails, my goal is simple:
to help people move through their homes more safely and more confidently.

Every home is different, so I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Each installation includes a brief in-home safety review, thoughtful placement, and proper mounting into structural supports — not just drywall or tile.

How I Approach Installations

Before I install anything, I take a few minutes to understand how the space is actually used — getting in and out of the shower, standing from the toilet, or navigating steps at an entryway.

From there, I recommend placements that support natural movement and everyday use. My focus is on installations that are secure, cleanly installed, and built to last.

Standard Grab Bar Installations (Bath & Shower)

Two Grab Bars — My Standard Recommendation
Most people benefit from two grab bars rather than one. Having support in more than one position makes transitions safer and more comfortable — especially when standing, turning, or exiting the shower.

Typical investment for two standard grab bars supplied and professionally installed: around $470

Single Grab Bar
In some situations, a single grab bar is appropriate and provides the support needed.

Typical investment for one grab bar supplied and professionally installed installed: around $235

If one bar truly makes the most sense for your space, I’ll tell you — I don’t install more than what’s needed.

Installation-Only (Client-Supplied Grab Bars)

Some clients, designers, or builders prefer to supply their own grab bars, especially when specific finishes are required. I’m happy to install customer-supplied bars when appropriate.

  • Installation per grab bar: around $195

  • Additional grab bars installed during the same visit: around $175 each

What’s Included in These Prices

These prices include both the grab bar itself and professional installation. My standard grab bar is a high-quality, ADA-compliant bar with:

  • A peened (textured) grip in the center for slip resistance

  • Brushed finish end caps with concealed mounting plates

  • A clean, simple design that works well in most bathrooms

This is the bar I install most often because it offers excellent grip, durability, and value without drawing attention to itself.

Designer & Specialty Grab Bars

Designer grab bars can vary widely depending on design, style, brand, length, finish, and availability. Most higher-end designer grab bars start around $90 per bar and increase from there based on the specific selection.

I work with several designer styles through my preferred wholesaler and often recommend Moen designer grab bars for their performance, durability, and clean, well-designed appearance.

When a designer or client-supplied grab bar is used, pricing reflects the actual cost of the bar plus professional installation.

Designer grab bars offer aesthetic flexibility, while standard grab bars remain the most cost-effective option for reliable everyday support. If you’re considering a designer option, I’m happy to review it with you and explain how it affects the total cost before anything is installed.

Handrails and Entryway Support

Prefabricated Handrail Systems
For steps and entryways, prefabricated handrail systems are often the best solution.

Typical installed range: $750 – $1,200+, depending on length, number of steps, and site conditions.

Custom or Site-Specific Solutions
When a prefabricated system won’t work or needs to match existing conditions, I offer custom solutions.

Starting around: $750

Frequently Asked Questions

Are grab bars included in the price?
Yes. Unless otherwise noted, grab bar pricing includes both the standard grab bar and professional installation.

What’s the difference between standard and designer grab bars?
Standard grab bars have a traditional grab bar shape and are made from solid stainless steel. They feature either a polished or peened (textured) grip and a round concealment plate that covers the mounting hardware.

Designer grab bars use specialty finishes and/or custom designs. They cost more due to the price of the bar itself and the added complexity of installation. Unlike standard bars, designer bars are typically made of multiple components and rely on set screws to connect the bar to the mounting plates. This requires additional time and precise measurements to ensure proper alignment and a clean final installation.

Can I choose a designer grab bar?
Absolutely. If you have a specific bar in mind or would like help selecting one, I’m happy to walk through options with you before installation.

Why do you often recommend two grab bars?
Multiple points of support make everyday movements safer and more comfortable, especially during transitions like standing, turning, or exiting the shower or tub.

Why don’t you quote an exact price in advance?
Final pricing is confirmed after an on-site assessment and depends on surface materials and the type of grab bars selected. Different materials require different installation techniques and time commitments.
For example, fiberglass and acrylic showers require specialty mounting kits due to the flexible nature of the material.

What grab bars do you keep in stock?
I keep my standard stainless steel grab bars with a peened (textured) grip in stock at all times. Sizes range from 12 inches to 32 inches, with the most common being:

  • 16 inches for vertical entry support

  • 24 inches for horizontal support

How long does it take to receive designer or specialty grab bars?
Most designer and specialty grab bars arrive within 5–10 business days after being ordered.

How long does an installation take?
A standard two-grab-bar installation in tile typically takes around two hours and includes a brief mobility and placement consultation. In private homes, correct placement is based on where your body needs support — not just where a bar looks best.

Do you offer a preliminary visit or consultation?
Sometimes. Handrails always require measurements and a consultation to review layout, mobility needs, and style. Designer grab bars purchased through me often require a consultation to ensure finishes and sizing are correct.
For standard grab bar installations, a preliminary visit is typically not necessary.

Not Sure What You Need?

If you’re unsure how many grab bars make sense or where they should be placed, I offer a brief in-home review to help you choose the right solution the first time.
